The European Group on Gender and Drugs (EDG), coordinated by the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) and the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe, together with UNICRI (United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute), the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) and several drug experts from various countries, is organising the second symposium on gender and drugs on 22 October 2024 at the Lisbon Congress Centre.
The second issue of the 1540 Compass explores the critical components of United Nations Security Council resolution 1540 (2004), with a focus on border and export control systems crucial for its full and effective implementation. This edition particularly underscores the significance of clauses in operative paragraph 3, highlighting the global commitment to securing a world where proliferation risks are minimized through robust domestic controls.
On August 8-9th, under the AI for Safer Children initiative, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), through its Centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics, and the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), conducted an online training session for Philippine law enforcement authorities. The event reached over 750 members of the Philippine National Police.
