The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) held a five-day train-the-trainers session on intelligence-led operations to prevent and combat radiological and nuclear (RN) trafficking in Phnom Penh, Kingdom of Cambodia, from 25 to 29 July 2022.
Within the framework of the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Centres of Excellence (EU CBRN CoE) Initiative, the 14th Round-Table Meeting (RTM) for Central Asia took place on 1-3 June 2021. The event was held in hybrid format: online and in person in the city of Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, abiding by the COVID-19 safety protocols. It was the first RTM for the Republic of Kazakhstan, which joined the EU CBRN CoE Initiative in November 2020.
Within the context of the Canada-funded project, "Global Biosecurity Risk Analysis and Needs Assessment", UNICRI, in coordination with the Public Health Agency of Canada, produced a series of reports identifying national and regional priorities for biological security capacity building.
Focusing on three target regions, including South East Asia, the Middle East and South America, the reports are based on an analysis of relevant international needs assessment instruments and action plans, complemented by data generated through custom surveys and expert interviews.
